Countless cyclists in cities and in suburbs throughout the country rely on their bicycles to get them from point A to point B. But a pesky problem presents itself when that dependable mode of transportation inevitably breaks and "point B" becomes the bicycle repair shop. Unless you have a car fitted with a bike rack, walking to the (possibly not-so-near) brick and mortar bike shop becomes an inconvenient chore.
Over the course of three months I concepted and designed the Cyclr iOS app to solve this problem. Cyclr is an on demand bicycle repair service that meets you where you are.
The app experience is heavily informed by a series of interviews I lead with both bike technicians and cyclists of varying skill levels, from competitive racers to boardwalk cruisers. The experience of being stranded next to a broken bike is universally frustrating.
First time user onboarding collects basic information not only about the rider but their bikes as well. By storing these details early and only once we avoid a frustrating Q+A flow later when urgent help may be needed. Also, by storing bike specs with a users' Cyclr account, Cyclr techs will always have the info they need to gather proper parts and prep for an on-site fix.
